Startup Focus: Paydock
This week's Startup Focus is shining a spotlight on Rob Lincolne, Founder & CEO of Paydock. Find out how thier platform is revolutionising payments.

How would you describe your business in one sentence?
A payments orchestration platform that increases profit for merchants, fintechs, banks, and not-for-profit organisations.Tell us why your company is a game-changer for our industry?
Rapid growth in digital commerce and COVID have dramatically changed the way consumers shop. The exponential rise in the number of payment services available has resulted in fragmentation and commoditisation prompting businesses to radically revisit their payments infrastructure. Shifting from legacy single-vendor strategies to coordinated multi-vendor strategies, merchants seek to ensure they can capitalise on the diversity that exists in the processing market today to lift their bottom line. With Paydock, merchants can engage the diverse landscape payment options available to them without fear and in a way that is simple, manageable and more profitable than any prior approach. What has been your biggest achievement to date?
Rapid growth and recognition of the value that we add are the biggest achievements for any business and its owner. Paydock has achieved numerous commercial milestones with major customers and secured a strong position in key verticals and geographies. Today we deliver services to some of the largest and well-recognised names such as UNHCR, Zambrero, Coles Liquor and WWF, to name a few. What has been the greatest challenge leading a startup?
Our greatest challenge has been pioneering payments orchestration before the market even realised it had a need. I’m enormously proud of the team that has been built at Paydock – each of whom have overcome significant challenges to refine our model and business to optimise merchant and industry benefits. We have a strong sense of community and a great working culture which helps us to tackle any challenges as a team who will happily fight a war for each other. The team has been able to overcome ahead of many the unique challenges of payments orchestration and deliver a coherent, accessible, stable and scalable solution to the market. It’s phenomenal to watch something come to life from nothing! What is the biggest lesson you learnt from your fundraising journey?
Patience is key, but as any founder or serial entrepreneur would agree, a fundraising journey can be fun, but an unpredictable and challenging process. A great deal of research and planning beforehand is always a good starting point, especially when seeking to create and lead a new category. A clear investment case backed with a robust strategy can make the journey smoother and less time consuming, but always be prepared for the unexpected!Your advice to anyone starting out as an entrepreneur?
Expect it to be about 500% percent harder and 200% longer than you expect, but it’s worth it!
