fintech courses Vasyl Soloshchuk and co-author Iurii Kartashov Follow: @VSoloshchuk Insurtech trends have been developing for decades and are changing slightly (except blockchain insurance which appeared a few years ago). One of the main factors influencing further prospects for each trend is an economical and technological development of society. Thus, the most innovative become such countries as the USA, UK (and some other countries of the EU), and Australia. Here, we see every reason to expect further growth in such areas of insurance as blockchain, on-demand insurance, as well as using telematics, IoT, wearables, drones, and smartphones. Though, expectations regarding the pace of changes transform according to gained experience of practical using of each technology. Talking about poor countries and countries with a weak economy, the main obstacle there is to “reach” people living far from megapolises. It is unreasonable therefore to rely on high technologies to be used in such countries. However, people there also desire to benefit from advantages of being insured. Insurance startups make use of mobile channels as the most used and available means of communication, selling insurance, and even risk assessment. Regarding trends my current view is that microinsurance will have the best chance to evolve, P2P insurance may decline in some regions while prospering in others and new forms of health insurance has the potential for growth in the countries where IoT and drones sound like a fantasy.
