In 2025, stablecoins are stepping into the mainstream of finance. They are used for payments, remittances, and as building blocks in decentralized markets. Yet trust remains fragile after high-profile de-peggings, reserve scandals, and shifting regulation. The key question is no longer whether stablecoins are useful but which ones are truly safe.

That is where Bluechip, the first stablecoin rating agency, enters the picture. Its SMIDGE framework evaluates Stability, Management, Implementation, Decentralization, Governance, and Externals. Instead of relying on marketing promises, SMIDGE measures how well a coin holds its peg, whether its reserves are credible, and how its governance and technical design protect users.

Bluechip is also taking the conversation public with Bluechip25, a conference co-hosted with Raiffeisen Bank International. Scheduled for November 6–7, 2025, in Vienna, it positions itself as “The Crypto Safety Conference”. Panels will gather regulators, auditors, developers, and investors to debate how stablecoins should be built and how they will shape the future of payments.

This mix of independent ratings and open dialogue could mark a turning point. Issuers with strong ratings may gain a clear edge. Users and institutions get a framework for judging risk. Regulators gain a shared language for oversight.

With EU’s MiCA rules and the new U.S. GENIUS Act pushing for stricter reserves and disclosures, the timing could not be sharper. Stablecoins are evolving from experimental tools into financial infrastructure, and their survival will depend on earning trust. Bluechip, through SMIDGE and Bluechip25, is helping to define what that trust should look like.
